Captain’s Trophy Day.

With a beautiful sunny day, we finally achieved our competition day. Congratulations to the winners:-  First – Stephanie Reid, Second – Maxine Hicks, and a draw Third – to Erica Daymond, Brenda Hein, Vicki Potter and Deborah Van Kuyl!!

There was a smaller than usual field, perhaps due to our weather-interrupted Tuesdays. Nevertheless the fun atmosphere was enjoyed with the terrific support from the committee and members. Morning tea became ‘brunch’ and a few lucky “door prizes” added to the event. Planning for next season is under way, and we look forward to some ‘new blood’ and ideas to boost our program.

End of Season Lunch – “Save the Date” Tues 31st May – All invited!

This is held the week prior to the last playing day.

All members invited, bring a plate of food to share, refreshments provided, raffle prizes, “Anything Goes attire”. Approx. time:  11.15am.

Members are reminded that at this time of year, if the grass courts are wet due to rain or dew, then play may commence on the synthetic and hard courts until the grass has dried out.

We look forward to seeing you all!

On Saturday, 30th April a number of junior players and some of their parents came down to the Senior club and joined in with the afternoon play. Some of the younger players partnered their parents and were able to have a set with the more senior members and the more advanced junior players joined in with the senior players matching up very well with the senior club standard. The older junior players were subsequently invited down to join in the Sunday social play for the rest of the season. I was impressed by their conduct on court and their standard of play, bearing in mind for some, it was the first time they had faced players at the senior level.

After four sets the juniors came off and feasted on pizza and soft drink, always a winning combination; as part of the junior club wind up.

I hope in future we can incorporate the junior players into the senior club occasionally to give them a taste of the senior standard and increase their love for and participation in tennis.
