What a wonderful few weekends of Championship tennis we have just witnessed.  The tournament was very well run and we are indebted to Stuart, Aldis, Barry and the entire Captain’s Committee for all their planning and coordination. The threatening weather that was forecast last Sat & Sun fortunately abated and allowed the finals to finish in near perfect conditions.

Congratulations to everyone who participated and thank you to all the parents, families and friends who came down and supported the players.  It was also great to see some ‘old faces’ wander down for a squiz and enjoy some social interaction with other ‘old faces’.   I was particularly impressed with both the playing standard and court etiquette of all the Junior players.  They are a credit to their parents and Coaches and it is testament to how they are being trained and nurtured.  Congratulations and keep it up!

It was very pleasing to see so many players and supporters stay for the presentation and the BBQ that followed.   A big thank you to Joy, Lynne, Rob (chef), Morag (savouries) John, Marshall and many others who chipped in with setting-up and cleaning-up.  Thanks also to Peter & Veronica for preparing the afternoon cocktails and running the bar for all the thirsty supporters.

All in all, a great Tournament!

Congratulations to:         Boys U16 winner Ravi Fozdar, Boys U16 runner up Kenshin Watanabe

Boys U14 winner Abyasa Danadyaksa, Boys U14 runner up David Puttick

Well done also to Sharaf Fozdar U16  3rd place and Jayden Fenner U16  4th place and  to  Harrison Fenner  U14  3rd place and Nathan Buntine U14  4th place.

I would like to applaud all the Juniors that entered the senior club championship including; Analiese Warburton, Nathaniel Behn,  Jin Chen Chang,  Jayden Fenner,  Ravi and Sharaf Fozdar and Kenshin Watanabe.

I hope you all enjoyed the junior tennis season and look forward to seeing you all in October. There will be a wind up within the next few weeks on a Saturday afternoon at the club. So watch this space for an invite to the event.

I would like to thank a number of people for their invaluable help over the tennis season. Special thanks go to Michelle Puttick, our gun computer tennis operator, Colin McGinn and Lloyd Hobbs for establishing membership and general help, Terry Simpson for stepping in when we were short staffed, John Turner ( alias good coach) and co junior coordinator, Kath Taylor for balls and sausage sizzle and last but by no means least our coach extraordinaire Nathan Nelmes; omnipresent and not a bad tennis player by all accounts (CPTC men’s singles club champion 2016).

Junior Pennants

There were three teams this year. The Boys U14 division 12 made it to the semi finals, whilst the boys U16 division 5 and boys U14 Division 14 just missed out on a finals berth. We are hoping to retain and add more pennant teams including a girls team next season.

Chocolate Frog – Saturday 11th June 2016 commencing at 6pm.  Details of the night to follow.  Chocolate Frog nominations are now open.  Please think about nominating a Club Member who you feel has volunteered a lot of their time around the club this season.

Start thinking of some funny Acts to perform on the night – individually or in groups.  If anyone has any funny information they want to share about a club member which can be made into a Dittie, then please pass this on to Morag or a Committee member.
